Cute birdies

Debbie LaValley, who’s is on a photo-snapping roll, sent us these pictures. “I was over my parents’ house in Penacook and there was a large flock of robins eating the rotting apples from the apple tree,” she wrote to us. It sort of reminds us of lunchtime here at The Insider office. Minus the rotting apples, of course . . . and all the feathers.

The Recyclinator is not shy. She is more than willing to stick her neck out and state her strong support for an issue. That issue is pay-as-you-throw, or “PAYT.” The surest and quickest path to an increased recycling rate for Concord is PAYT. This is not a new concept. There are 46 other communities in New Hampshire that already do this. Since implementing this program, these communities have reduced their waste by an...

Jacob Bemis I think most people over 60 are grumpy because they think of their lives when they were younger and miss the good old days. But others think that it is fun because of the experiences with their grandchildren like me. From, The J-Man Kassi Hapenny I do not think all people over 60 are grumpy. Did somebody say Thin Mints, Samoas and Do-si-dos?!?!?!

She may be the only 92-year-old to have her own Myspace page. She's a Capricorn from Savannah, Ga., and you know her well. She's the Girl Scout cookie, that American icon that comes around only once a year. Because we'd like her to linger longer, many of us put her on ice, stockpiling these decadent delights in the freezer to prolong the excitement. In 1917, Oklahoma Girl Scouts held a bake sale to raise money for a...

Beer tasting results

Nothing like getting paid to drink good beer on a Tuesday afternoon. Ah, how I love my job. Kevin was so kind as to pour Katie and me samples of both the Imperial Blonde and Koncord Kombat Ale. Katie is not much of a beer drinker, but I like to consider myself one. I'm not a beer aficionado or anything, but I do turn my nose up at Keystone Light or Natural “Natty” Ice. Yuck. Here are my thoughts on both of the beers....
