If you haven’t caught one of the Bach’s Lunch series concerts at the Concord Community Music School this year, you won’t want to miss this Thursday’s.
That’s because this will be the final installment until the program picks back up in October.
On Thursday, Peggo Horstmann Hodes, director of the Songweavers women’s community chorus and music school faculty member, will perform “Moon Songs, ”accompanied by Kent Allyn on piano, bass and guitar.
The concert is an adaptation of their snowed-out Valentine’s Day concert. The performance will feature songs that take audience members to the moon and back, with selections like “Blue Moon,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” and “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” among others.
From corny to romantic, the duo’s songs will include favorite movie songs, jazz ballads and Van Morrison.
“Musical Migrations” was the theme of this year’s Bach’s Lunch programs, which are an outgrowth of the music school’s leadership work on the Steering Committee of the Welcoming Concord Initiative. Welcoming Concord began through the statewide efforts of the Endowment for Health’s Immigration Integration Initiative, and is a forum for collective action and shared learning, with the goal of warmly welcoming New Americans into the cultural, economic and civic life of the region.
Bach’s Lunch programs are free and open to the public. This week’s concert will take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m.
