If you haven’t done your annual holiday construction project yet – and by that we mean made a gingerbread house – don’t worry, there’s still time.

But if you’d rather share your building experience with others, might we suggest stopping by the library on Wednesday, between the hours of 3 to 7 p.m., for its tiny gingerbread house night.

Now while this is being billed as a kids/family craft evening, adults are welcome to take part in the fun too – even if you don’t have a kiddo to bring along.

The library staff has been putting together the gingerbread house bases and putting up the walls and roofs (made of graham crackers). So when you stop in to make your most perfect house, all you have to do is the decorating.

And there will be lots of candy for you to use. We’re talking M&Ms, Hershey kisses, candy canes and other surprises. You might even be able to eat some.

“There’s a huge variety of candy,” said library technician Inga Cullen. “Lots of candy will be involved.”

There will also be pretzels, and you can even bring your own candy if you’ve got a specific design idea.

“We’re expecting candy to be all over the building,” Cullen said.

There are no sign ups and it’s all free, but there will only be so many gingerbread houses to go around, so you might want to get there early.

And as the library’s website states “be prepared for sticky fingers.”
