Ian Russell is the CYPN young professional of the month for December.

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Concord Young Professionals Network (CYPN) introduces you to another Young Professional of the Month, Ian Russell.

How old are you? 24

Where do you live? Epsom

Where do you currently work? Harris Family Furniture in Chichester

Where did you go to school? University of New Hampshire at Manchester for communication arts.

What do you like to do for fun? I like to write my own superhero stories. I have one book written and am more than halfway done with my second. I’m also a major car enthusiast, and regularly visit dealerships and attend shows to learn more about the latest models. I write reviews and share the information I learn on my blog, Cars, Cards, and Cartoons, along with content on other topics that interest me.

Favorite places to be? Someplace quiet with a good book, and going to car shows and dealerships to learn more about new cars. My family is building a house in Loudon, so I look forward to attending plenty of races at the speedway.

How did you find out about CYPN and how has it benefited your business or you personally? I found out about CYPN from a woman at my previous job. She knew I was looking for ways to grow my professional network and invited me to attend the October 2015 meeting at Kimball-Jenkins School of Art. While at the event, I had the pleasure of meeting Jess O’Hare, which led to my internship with the Northern Forest Center. Since then, I have attended almost every single networking night and made many strong connections with young professionals.

Most inspirational person in your life: My mom. She sets a good example for me and my sister and taught me to stand up for what I believe in while not jumping to conclusions too quickly. I will carry on her legacy when I start a family.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Concord? Uno Pizzeria & Grill – whether I’m in the mood for pasta or pizza, I can find something I like.

What’s your favorite place to go in Concord? I have a hard time resisting going into BAM (Books-A-Million). I can always find an interesting magazine or book there. Sometimes my budget allows me to buy something and sometimes it doesn’t.

What is one of your life goals? To attend the Detroit Auto Show – it’s one of the world’s premier auto shows and where several new important models are introduced to the public. I was able to go to the Chicago Auto Show this past February and had a wonderful time. Detroit would be a great opportunity to see the latest cars and meet top automotive executives.

What has been your favorite CYPN event so far? I really enjoyed the Mill Brook Gallery and Sculpture Garden event. Being outside was a welcome change and the weather was great too, making it all the more refreshing.

If you could visit any country, where would you go? I’ve always wanted to go to Australia. It’s full of unique wildlife and tourist attractions. They also have a special car culture that I would love to experience.

Where is the best place you’ve visited? I have many fond memories from going with my high school robotics team to Atlanta for the FIRST Robotics Championship. Atlanta was a beautiful city and it was great to meet robotics teams from all over the world. Outside of the competition, my team visited the Georgia Aquarium and attended a carnival set up in Centennial Olympic Park.
