Taste SNOB with a special burger and burrito

Checking out all kinds of indie films, beers and bands can really work up an appetite. Thankfully, Barley House and Dos Amigos have thought of that and created some special offerings just for SNOB.

A special occasion such as this festival calls for a special meal, which is why each eatery decided to come up with something good that you can have during the week of the festival – and only during the week of the festival (there’s nothing quite like exclusivity).

The Barley House has created the cleverly titled SNOB burger – a staple of the festival for the last four years. It’s made with all-natural, ground-in-house beef, melted smoked gouda cheese, crispy prosciutto, fried egg over easy and a tarragon aioli, served on a toasted English muffin.

Is your moth watering yet?

If you inexplicably just said no, wait until you hear about the SNOB burrito (also cleverly named).

Dos Amigos’s special offering is new this year, as it has been nearly every year of the festival, said owner Joel Harris. The SNOB burrito has traditionally been based around a sauteed fall vegetable, but this year the burrito masters are “gonna take it to the next level,” Harris said.

This burrito features an Indian-inspired tikka masala sauce that will be put over the sauteed veggies. They’ll use the same sauce on a chicken burrito, too, creating two options – one for vegetarians and one for meat-loving carnivores (guess which one we’d go for?).

“It’s a little beyond our normal palate, but we thought it’d be a cool nod to Bollywood or something film-related,” Harris said.

The sauce’s base is poblano peppers, tomatoes, ginger and yogurt. Then there’s chili powder, brown sugar, coriander and curry powder to add some kick. The crisp veggies help balance out the spice.

We were lucky enough to get a surprise early taste of both burritos – veggie and chicken – and we were thoroughly impressed. The seasoning was well-balanced – not too spicy but not too weak to notice anything. Both were devoured promptly.

Both the burger and the burrito will be available at their respective locations throughout the festival.
