Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure:
Phantom Blood, Vol. 1

Araki Hirohiko

2015, 245 pages

Fiction

Running since the late 80s, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has given its readers martial arts, inexplicable rivalries, vampires, ancient Aztec villains, mystical powers and characters named after rock n’ roll bands. Sound interesting and ridiculous? You bet it does. Phantom Blood is the first story arc of this crazy classic, and this release is the first time it has been available in English.

Set in Victorian England, this unusual story drops us into the intense rivalry of noble, virtuous Jonathan Joestar and his adopted brother, the delightfully villainous Dio Brando. As they grow to adulthood, their conflict intensifies and the mystical effects of an ancient Aztec stone mask come into play.

This series is strange and over-the-top, but that’s its charm. If you like old-school manga, engaging storylines, and outrageous plot twists, this is for you. Keep an eye out for further volumes here at CPL!
