There’s a Janet Ulbrich original bib chilling over in Cambridge now

That’s the official envelope in which Ulbrich received the thank you. We like to imagine it speaking with a delightful British accent.

That’s the bib, along with a photo of what we assume is Princess Charlotte, because it would be pretty weird and random if it was just some other newborn kid.

There’s a little piece of Concord that could be collecting royal drool at this very moment, thanks to Janet Ulbrich.

The resourceful Ulbrich crafted a bib for Princesse Charlotte and mailed it all the way to the Royal Family in England this spring, and she recently received an official response – a delightful thank you.

This isn’t Ulbrich’s first royal bib rodeo, though. And she’s learned from past missteps. She sent a similar bib across the pond when Prince George was born in 2013, but she made the mistake of including her business card, which scared the Royal Family’s people into believing she was some sort of baby bib mogul. Apparently they can’t accept gifts like that, so they returned the bib with a nice note (although it took almost two months, and Ulbrich was ready to “report the Royal Family to Emily Post,” she said).

This time, though, there was no business card included, and the venture was a smashing success.

Ulbrich received, in an envelope marked as official Royal Mail, a thank you note.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were most touched by the thoughtful gift you so kindly sent on the birth of their daughter, Princess Charlotte,” the note reads. “Their Royal Highnesses are extremely grateful for all the wonderful messages and gifts they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”

Ulbrich now has two tremendous items on display in her house, with the recent correspondence taking up residence right next to the bib and note that were sent back last time.

“The secret (this time) was not sending my ‘business card’ along with the gift. They must have thought I was some big bib company!” Ulbrich said of the initial try. “I will shadowbox frame this response as I did with the Prince George bib. This will be a great addition to my sewing room.”
