You may have noticed there was a little bit of water covering Main Street last Tuesday.

Our first thought was the powers that be finally listened to our suggestion to add a rooftop pool as part of the Main Street redesign and it went horribly long, but sadly it was just the result of a water main break due to a construction error. Oops.

And when the total water loss came in, it was kind of a lot – like 1.6 million gallons. Think about what you could do with all that water.  We did, and here’s what we came up with.

∎ Fill all seven of the city’s swimming pools – twice.

∎ Create our own lazy river around the office. Really, why wouldn’t you want an easier way to get to and from the microwave?

∎ Set up the most epic slip and slide ever down Pleasant Street, with a jump that lands you right into the Storrs Street parking lot.

∎ Hold the first ever city wide water balloon fight. We’re going to need lots of balloons – or just really, really big ones.

∎ Finally begin the process of turning Concord into the Venice of the east.

∎ Take a shower for 640,000 minutes. Pretty sure the hot water would run out before we finished, though.

∎ Fill 600, eight-ounce glasses of water for everyone in Concord. You’ll certainly be well hydrated.

∎ Do 114,285 loads of laundry in an Energy Star washer, which would take us about 75,000 years at our current pace.

∎ Grow and nourish an indestructable army of Chia Pets.
