City Briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell picks his own corn so he can make the best popcorn ever for movie night. And the aerial view of the cornfield spells out a city memo!

Turn over a new leaf

Then put it at the curb

The city’s annual leaf pick-up program began Nov. 3 and will run through Dec. 12, weather permitting, Aspell writes. You may now pick up piles of leaves to dump in your yard at City Hall.

Kidding! It works the other way. Residents may rake their leaves to the curb and leave them unbagged for collection. Crews will only be able to collect leaves once in each area. There will be three crews working their way through the city: one crew will start at the Bow town line on South Street and work north; a second crew will start at Blossom Hill Cemetery and work north into Penacook; and a third crew will start on Mountain Road and continue south on the east side of the river. Please remember that only leaves and no miscellaneous items, will be picked up.
