City briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell connects a zip line from his office to several downtown restaurants to make his lunch trips easier, and when the public sees him soaring overhead, he’s voted Most Aerodynamic City Manager in the Cappies. Thankfully the fame doesn’t go to his head and he still writes us a city memo.

Greeting your public

Your public works, we mean

This week is National Public Works Week, Aspell writes.  Public Works Week is celebrated each May by the American Public Works Association to raise the public’s awareness of public works and to recognize public works employees for their contributions, and other sentences that featured repeated use of the words “public” and “works.”

This year’s theme is “Building for Today, Planning for Tomorrow” and recognizes public works employees for always working toward a sustainable future. The proposed theme of “What We Ate Yesterday, What We’re Going To Eat Tomorrow” was rejected.

Concord General Services will be recognizing its employees with a luncheon for their services.
