City briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell tries to pen a letter to departing Insider editor Ben Conant, thanking him for the various Photoshop surprises over the years. But he tears up immediately, and can only manage a blurry city memo, which is transcribed here.

Initiate Phase 3

It’s quite a trilogy

The Engineering Services Division will hold three public information meetings on the ongoing Langley Parkway phase 3 study, Aspell writes. The phase 3 study is directly between the phase 3 kitchen and living room.

Phase 3 is the final segment of the Langley Parkway corridor, which will extend from Pleasant Street, through the regional medical campus and northward to the intersection of North State Street, Bouton Street and Penacook Street. The purpose of these meetings is to share the findings of the conceptual corridor study, including potential corridor and intersection layouts and alternatives (we’re proposing a hexagonal corridor layout), and to seek feedback from the public. Public input is an important component of this study and will be reflected in the final report to City Council. Because the final report to the city council will be written on a mirror.

Scheduled meetings are as follows: Oct. 8, 6 p.m., Bishop Brady High School Library, 25 Columbus Ave., focus on Auburn Street neighborhood; Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at Bishop Brady High School Library, 25 Columbus Ave., focus on Penacook Street area neighborhood (east of water tank); Nov. 21 at 6 p.m., City Council Chambers, 37 Green St., focus on overall project presentation.

Get a free absentee shirt

Or just a ballot

Absentee ballots for the Nov. 5 municipal election are now available from the City Clerk’s Office, Aspell writes. Absentee applications for absentee ballots aren’t things that exist yet.

Residents who are unable to vote at the polls on election day, due to absence from town or physical disability, may request an absentee ballot. We’ve always been told too many absences could result in lower grades, though.

You must be registered to vote prior to casting an absentee ballot. No voter registration is required to cast a burlesque show.
