City Briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell rushes to each of Concord’s orchards, furiously stuffing apples into all of his pockets. They don’t all fit, though, and the ones that tumble out spell out the city memo! Here it is, transcribed.

Supervise that checklist

Wanna run for office?

Residents are reminded that the city’s next municipal election will be held Nov. 5, Aspell writes. It’s never too early to start practicing coloring in those tiny little circles!

Parties wishing to file for municipal office may do so at the City Clerk’s office through Sept. 16 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The filing fee to run for mayor or member of city council is $5; ward official is $1.00. There is no fee to run for Lord Duke of Concord, which isn’t even a thing.

Filings will be taken for the office of mayor, ward councilor, councilor-at-large, ward moderator, ward clerk, and supervisor of the checklist. Please contact the City Clerk’s office via email at cityclerk@concordnh.gov or by phone at 225-8500 with any questions.
