Mark Beaudoin wants to hang with Warren Buffett and Ben Franklin

Our latest young professional of the week is Mark Beaudoin. Read all about him!

How old are you? 34

Where do you live? Currently, the great city of Concord. However, my wife and I plan to move into our new home in Hopkinton this fall.

Where do you currently work? I’m an attorney at Cleveland, Waters and Bass, PA.

Where did you go to school? Hopkinton High School; Hobart and William Smith Colleges; University College, Oxford (Residency); and Vermont Law School.

What do you like to do for fun? Swim, bike, run and race in the occasional triathlon or half marathon. I also participate in most other seasonal activities that make New Hampshire such a spectacular place to live. Most recently, I picked up telemark skiing and have tried to improve a little every winter (without much success).

Favorite places to be? In or around Squam Lake in the summer; eating an apple (or cider donut) at Gould Hill Orchards in the fall; wherever there is fresh powder in the winter; and on my road bike, cruising down a country road, in the spring.

Last book you’ve read? Lost Davisville: Forgotten New Hampshire History by Fernanda Harrington. Apparently, my family’s forefathers had a part in founding the metropolis that is Davisville.

How did you find out about CYPN and how has it benefitted your business or you personally? Originally, I was introduced by my wife Laura and, most recently, re-introduced by long-time friend Kate Putnam. The organization has benefitted me personally by facilitating social interaction with many new ambitious contacts that would have otherwise likely remained strangers. CYPN members have many varied experiences, talents and creative outlets which makes for an enlightening (and fun) organization which is vital to the greater Concord community.

What organizations are you involved with? Capitol Center for the Arts Ghostlight Society; founding member of Fostering Legal Independence; New Hampshire Bar Association’s Legislation Committee; International Council of Shopping Centers; Past President of the Belknap County Bar Association; Capital Multisport.

Most inspirational people in your life: Currently, although they may not know it, the owner of Quest Yoga, Karen Kenney, and my former doubles partner at the Racquet Club, Marty Capodice.

Greatest role model? My older sister Vicki, of Taos, New Mexico, for always remembering to cherish the things that really matter in this life.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Concord? Although there are many great restaurants in town, Hermanos is definitely my favorite. I also really like Vinnie’s Pizza and the Tea Garden.

What’s your favorite place to go in Concord? Recently, True Brew Barista. They have a dark roast Americano which keeps me caffeinated all day and a great venue for enjoying local musicians.

Favorite movie of all time? Forrest Gump.

What is one of your life goals? Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and hiking all the 4,000-footers in New Hampshire. (I have a long way to go).

What has been your favorite CYPN event so far? The 2012 Dia de los Muertos party at the Granite Restaurant.

Favorite famous person? Tom “Terrific” Brady.

If you could visit any country, where would you go? Turkey.

Where is the best place you’ve visited? Italy and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Who would you really like to meet? Warren Buffett. I find his success and frugal living fascinating. However, if you mean anyone in history, Benjamin Franklin – he was a true Renaissance man (author, politician, rebel, inventor, scientist and musician).

Tell us a few interesting facts about yourself: In the past year I walked the two miles to my office (and back) almost every day, rain, snow or shine. The older I become the more I appreciate country music. In college, I played on the tennis and squash teams, although my high school didn’t offer either sport.
