Bulletin Board: Leadership committee

Kim Pecora, chairwoman of the 2013-14 Leadership Steering Committee with the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, a program that fosters civic awareness in greater Concord, is accepting applications for the 2013-14 program.

The program’s steering committee seeks to identify inpiduals with distinctive leadership potential and enhance their knowledge of the area by exposing them to issues, opportunities and problems facing greater Concord. The inpiduals selected for the 2013-14 leadership class will begin work on the 10-month program in September, starting with a retreat and followed by a series of day-long work sessions from September through May and a graduation ceremony in June. Each session focuses on a particular aspect of civic life in Concord, including history and culture, environment and sustainability, economic development, education, communications and the media, government and politics, criminal justice, health and human services, and spirituality.

The application deadline is May 24 at 5 p.m. For more information about Leadership Greater Concord, please contact Valerie Blake at 224-2508. To download an application, please go to concordnhchamber.com.

Also, the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce has announced that applications for this year’s business grants for teachers are now being accepted.

Through the business grants program, the chamber awards grants to teachers who have developed innovative teaching programs for use in capital-area schools. Recipients demonstrate to the committee that their projects fit a specific educational need, are unique to their respective schools and are not supported by the school system’s annual budget. Funding for the business grants program is raised through the chamber’s annual Funds for Education Golf Tournament to be held Aug. 7 this year at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

The deadline for submission of this grant application is May 31. For more information about the business grants program or the Funds for Education Golf Tournament, please contact the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce at 224-2508. To download an application, go to concordnhchamber.com.
