Bulletin Board: Annual perennial exchange

The 13th annual Perennial Exchange opens Concord’s gardening season May 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Concord City Auditorium.

It’s free and open to all. Here’s how the Perennial Exchange works: Perennial plants are ambitious, persistent and wandering. You’ve got a flock of phlox, a host of hosta, a diorama of daisies . . . dig some up, split them, put them in cans or boxes and bring them down to the Audi to exchange for new varieties.

And, if you’re just starting a garden, there will be some extras for you. Take your new plants home and settle them into your garden. It’s all to beautify the city’s streetscape, which is getting lovelier every year.

Also at the Exchange: Advice from “Dr. Splat,” the exchange’s perennial Master Gardener; Mother’s Day mugs – the best affordable gift in the county; affordable annuals; and the great gardening raffle, featuring 13 prizes for 13 winners.

Thanks to Osborne’s Agway, Aubuchon, Blue Seal, L.A. Brochu, Cobblestone, Cole Gardens, Duncraft, Marshall’s, D. McLeod, Murray Farms, Nicole’s and The Friends of the Audi.

The event will be held rain or shine. Morning Coffee will be served, and Panera’s Pastries too.

Sponsored by The Friends of the Audi and Concord’s General Services Department. For more, call 228-2737 or visit theaudi.org.
