Letters to the Insider: Corrections, clarifications and quibbles

Nudes aren’t the norm

There were many important pieces of information left out of the March 20 issue of the Insider about the picture and article pertaining to the performance of our storytelling class. Anyone who heard my story will understand and have no need to read this – but – the hundreds of readers who did not could assume that this mother of four young children had a nude painting hanging in their “family” bedroom.

There were many misconceptions. No. 1 – it was not a “family” bedroom. No. 2 – the HALF nude was of a young Parisian woman, bought in Paris (while living in England) as a souvenir of our trip to Paris. When returning home to Pennsylvania we were faced with the problem of where to hang it, having the children in mind. Behind the bedroom door seemed the perfect place.

Anyone with young children  can appreciate the ingenuity of young minds, especially in raising funds. I think it was a nickel admission. The story was told for its humor, not to shock – or give the impression that this was the norm for our family.

Neighbors weigh in

I note in Ben Conant’s article re: the Boys and Girls Clubs that none of the  neighbors have been interviewed.  The B&G Club does some very good work;  however, there are days they tend to monopolize the adjacent city park, and I  believe the city is giving them park land for the new parking lot. They’ve not been the best neighbors they could be.  When I tried to have my  9, 6 and 4 year olds sign up as B&G members – I was told they are really  only an after school/day care program now.

A fascinating correction

A correction to last week’s story “Concord’s most fascinating inpiduals” (April 2). Soula Maloutas did not start the Gaslighter restaurant; in fact, she took it over from its founder, Greg Mamos.
