Don’t get fresh!

The Concord Police Department gave us access to some recently unearthed police logbooks, some dating back all the way to the turn of the century (the 1900s one, not the most recent one). We think it’s a fascinating glimpse into the way things used to be in Concord, so we’ve compiled some of the most interesting entries here. Take a gander, you rapscallions!

Feb. 25, 1940: Mrs. Piper reports losing a pocket book from her house on Elm St. 5 dollar bill and some change in it. Supect Robert Caroveau, Elm St., lives in the old log cabin.

March 29, 1940: Mr. Cumming of Concord Manor phoned and said he could see a glow in the sky in the direction of his boys camp. Wanted to know if we could investigate. Everything O.K.

April 7, 1940: A call to take a man out, Bernard Ahem (cell 3) Concord Sta. This man was awful drunk and we had to use him a little hard.

April 23, 1940: Went to Concord Manor. Got one look at the dog and then it disappeared. Couldn’t find it again.

June 30, 1940: Reported by Napoleon Dennis that he caught Charlie LaCroix just as he was about to jump in the Contoocook River. Took him home and put him to bed.

July 22, 1940: Florence Chandler complains of two boys about 19 yrs. Old getting fresh with her at her front door. They were trying to sell magazines.

Nov. 1, 1940: Mrs. Clifford Dean, 36 Abbot Rd., complains of two men prowling around her house. Investigated and found it was two women dressed as men. They were looking for a house that was having a Halloween party.
