Concord City Auditorium weekend concerts

The Concord Community Concert Association announces a marvelous musical weekend March 2 and 3 at Concord City Auditorium, 2 Prince St.

March 2 at 7:30 p.m., the Symphony New Hampshire Concertmaster String Quartet performs works by Dvorak, Haydn, and Ives, led by New Hampshire’s premier violinist, Elliott Markow.

New Hampshire’s true concertmaster, Markow is the first violinist of the Granite State Symphony Orchestra, New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra, Granite State Opera Orchestra and the Symphony New Hampshire Orchestra. Concord audiences gave Markow a standing ovation at the Jan. 26 GSSO “Baroque Is Back” concert, and welcome him back as first violin among peers in this extraordinary string quartet, including Beth Welty, a second prominent concertmaster, as the ensemble’s second violin, violist Emily Rome and cellist Harel Gietheim.

Markow selected these leading string artists for this unique ensemble of leading New England musicians – concertmasters Indeed!

Tickets are $20 for single tickets available at the door and in advance at The UPS Store, Gibson’s Bookstore, Northway Bank, and Endicott Furniture, all on Main Street. For more information, call 225-7474 or email nhdm40@comcast.net.

The CCCA’s Student Outreach Program offers free admission to area music students and their families.
Merrimack Music will showcase the talent of young New Hampshire musicians on four Sundays in March, beginning March 3 from 3 to 5 p.m. in a salon setting in the Audi’s reception lobby.
The events are free, but there is limited seating. Donations are accepted.

Presented by the Concord Community Concert Association and sponsored by the Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation.

The March 3 session features four singer-songwriters in Lucas Gallo, Tristan Omand, Matt Poirier and Dusty Gray in a unique program with these accomplished musicians taking turns performing their original songs, talking about their influences, and explaining what moves them to be the artists they are today.

Upcoming March sessions include March 10: Jazz with Kid Jazz and Brasbe; March 17: Lauren Hurley and Rachel Vogelzang; and March 24: Joel Morse and The Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki Trio.
