City briefly

Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell blindfolds himself, then fills out his March Madness brackets without so much as a peek. He gets every pick right and wins the office pool, but he's such a nice guy that he uses the money to take the whole staff out to lunch. Awesome, baby!

A taxing reminder

Property bills due

Residents are reminded that fourth quarter installment payments for 2011 property taxes are due March 31, Aspell writes. There are several options available for making payments. Tax payments may be mailed, using the return envelope provided with the property tax bill; payments may be dropped off in the mail box on the front door or in the lobby of City Hall; payments may be made online at concordnh.gov; or automated phone payments may be made by calling 800-615-9507. Please note, any 2011 taxes that remain unpaid after March 31 will be subject to the lien process.

Wright on

Sergeant graduates

On March 9, Concord Police Sergeant Joseph Wright graduated from the first line supervisor course offered by the Justice System Training and Research Institute, in partnership with the New England Association of Chiefs of Police, Aspell writes.

The two-week command training series first-line supervisor course provides sworn public safety professionals with contemporary, relevant concepts of management and leadership appropriate to the role and responsibilities of first-line supervisors in a modern criminal justice agency. Topics include leadership and communication styles, data analysis; problem solving and planning, crisis and situational leadership, ethical decision making, discipline, labor relations and conflict management.

Camp is coming

Guides available now

The Parks and Recreation Department's Summer Camp Guide has arrived back from the printers and will be delivered to all local schools this week, Aspell writes. Guides are also available in the lobby of City Hall or directly from the Parks & Recreation Department office at White Park. All summer camp information will be available online as well at concordnh.gov/recreation.
