The Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire invites all those interested in film, politics or women's issues to join us to meet and talk with filmmaker Ayesha Khan who will be in the Granite State for a three-day school and community residency Feb. 9-11. Ayesha will share her insightful and surprising film, “Made in Pakistan,” a documentary that follows the lives of four young middle-class Pakistanis during the state of emergency declared by Pervez Musharraf in 2007. Winner of the Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary at the 2009 South Asian International Film Festival in New York, “Made in Pakistan” provides a rare glimpse into life in what Newsweek described as “the most dangerous country in the world” – a land where politics, fashion, religion, debate and tradition intermingle – and where a single definition of an Islamic state no longer holds true.

Main St. Informal discussion on international filmmaking and women in films with Ayesha Khan. Presented in partnership with Granite Society of Female Film Artists and the New Hampshire Film and Television Office. Admission is free. A native of Pakistan, executive producer Ayesha Khan is also a director and actress. In 2004 she founded Indus Valley Productions, a company that produces feature films, documentaries, and music videos for the international market. She served as writer, director, and producer for “KASHF: Lifting of the Veil.”
