Someone put a bug in the Snob's ear about Concord Dines Out 2012, in which many of the city's restaurants are offering $10 fixed-price lunches and $20 fixed-price dinners in order to feed the hungry hockey fans descending on Concord for the Black Ice Pond Hockey tournament. Well, we pulled a few strings and got some early access to the menu at EJ's on Main.

The always-frugal Snob perks up at the sound of a three-course lunch for only $10, so EJ's had us on board from the get-go. There was only one choice of entree, a roast beef au jus sandwich with curly fries, so we went with that. We had a choice of a soup or salad appetizer and selected a caesar salad – the Snob fancies himself a modern-day emperor of sorts.

The salad came quickly, and set the tone. Leafy greens doused in caesar dressing with croutons and parmesan cheese – yes, that's a caesar salad. Delicious.

The salad was quickly followed by the roast beef au jus sandwich. This was a monster! The roast beef was actually thinly sliced prime rib. It was served on a moist baguette with horseradish mayo. It might have been well-served by the addition of some vegetables, but we never asked for them, so it's hard to fault the chef for that. The savory au jus added a salty kick to the already-tasty sandwich, but beware – a little bit goes a long way. Don't get overzealous with your dipping maneuvers,

After devouring half of the sandwich and most of the well-seasoned curly fries, the Snob was extremely full. That was a lot of food for $10! At this point, the waitress asked what we'd like for dessert. We shouldn't have had another bite, but we did anyway, out of dedication to you, our loyal readers. We chose the homemade brownie sundae, a healthy dollop of whipped-cream-crowned vanilla ice cream with hot fudge, perched atop a hot brownie. Need we say more? The Snob wishes he was eating another one right now!
