The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the Granite State College is sponsoring a brown bag session about “Understanding the Mysteries of China” on Jan. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Wesley Methodist Church, 79 Clinton St.

Guest speakers will include Cathy Silber, who will talk about women in China; Lily Yang, who will describe her life in China; Lee Stark, who will display her oriental embroidery and Sid Schoeffler, who will discuss the economic relations of the United States and China. Schoeffler is a retired economic professor at UMass and visiting Research Fellow at Harvard.

In addition, there will be a 30-minute documentary film on the current events of China. Virginia Gerseny and Martha Hammond will serve as hostesses.

Attendees should bring a bag lunch, but beverages, snacks and deserts will be provided. The fee is $25. You can make your reservations by calling the OLLI office at 513-1377.
