Name: Colby Apichell

Job: Salvation Army bell ringer

What kind of difference do people make when they put money in your bucket?

They put food into empty stomachs, they help veterans, and they help the local community during disasters.

What's the most rewarding part of the job?

Having people tell me I'm doing the most good.

What's your ringtone?

The generic one the phone came with. It ain't Christmas bells.

How long does it take to get the ringing sound out of your head when you get home at night?

It usually takes a good half-hour.

Do you have one forearm muscle that is more defined than the other, or do you switch hands?

I switch off between both hands, so they're both pretty equal.

How long can you ring the bell consecutively without a break?

I can ring it the full six hours in a shift.

How many rings do you think you produce in a day?

Easily more than 2,000 rings.

What's the meanest thing anyone's said to you while you were ringing?

There's been a couple of ugly ones. I can't remember the meanest, but one guy told me God didn't need to bless him.
