Two-part workshop

Join the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and Concord Energy and Environment Committee for a two-part “Introduction to Permaculture Design” workshop. The workshops will take place Nov. 2 and 16, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Forest Society's Conservation Center, 54 Portsmouth St.

Permaculture is a method of developing life skills for sustainable living and beyond. It aims to regenerate healthy, productive landscapes and communities by applying ecological principles to the design of human habits.

The first session of this two-part workshop will overview permaculture design, while the second session will describe how participants can use the design process on their own properties or projects.

Instructor Steven Whitman is a professional New Hampshire-based planner and educator whose work is focused largely on community planning and sustainability issues. He is a planner with Jeffrey H. Taylor & Associates and also an adjunct faculty member at Plymouth State University, where he teaches courses on environmental planning, community planning, permaculture, and sustainability.

The cost of the workshops is $50, and pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, call Steve at 381-1798 or email steve@low-energy-future.com.
