Name: D.J. Annicchiarico.
Job: Owner, United Shoe Repair.

Do people really still get their shoes repaired?

Absolutely. We're busier than we can stand some days.

How long has the store been in Concord?

One hundred and two years. It started on Pleasant Street and moved to South Main Street after a fire at the end of 1961. We moved from 18 to 8 S. Main St. seven months ago.

How long have you worked with your longest-standing customer?

I would say a minimum of probably 40 years, and some of his shoes are probably about that old.

What kind of shoe do you repair the most?

Probably Bostonians, of varying degrees of quality. We usually tell people, you get what you pay for.

What is the most common repair requested?

Heels tend to wear out about 2 to 1 to soles, especially on ladies' shoes with all the skinny heels.

What is your hidden talent?

Cooking.

What's the most bizarre thing you've ever repaired?

We've fixed fox pelts for Fish & Game, clown shoes and mascot feet.

How much of your work is done by elves?

Surprisingly little. Not as much as I would like. If there are any elves looking for work, we'd love to hire them.

What is your favorite dessert? (Please say cobbler.)

It's seasonal, but apple crisp. So I guess that's close.
