The AARP Tax-Aide program seeks volunteers to staff its Tax-Aide sites and to assist low and moderate-income taxpayers with the preparation and electronic filing of their federal income tax returns. Computer literate volunteers of all ages are welcome.
Volunteers will receive at-home and in-classroom tax law training to acquire IRS certification as a Tax-Aide counselor. Training classes begin in January, 2012. Once IRS-certified, counselors are expected to volunteer at least eight hours per week during the 10-week tax season from Feb. 1 through April 15.
