Music festival

On Sept. 17, from noon to 8 p.m. in the Wellness Center Gym, NHTI will host the MACCK Music Festival, featuring local acts Lamont Smooth, the Ron Noyes Band, Rachel Vogelzang, and West African drum ensemble Araba-lon. The concert is being organized by MACKK, the NHTI student meditation club (MACKK stands for Mindfulness, Awareness, Communication, Knowledge, and Kindness), which hopes to make this an annual event.

Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. Proceeds will benefit the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and the MACKK club.

In addition to music, the event will feature the following guest speakers:

Jennifer Durant, public policy specialist, NHCADSV; Mark Zuckerman, assistant U.S. attorney general, district of New Hampshire; Suzanne Harvey, former New Hampshire state representative and prime sponsor of New Hampshire's first law on human trafficking; Christine Griffin, education and outreach coordinator at the Rape and Domestic Violence Crisis Center; Katie Barthelmes, sexual assault Specialist at the Rape and Domestic Violence Crisis Center; and Janis Lilly, program coordinator at The Upper Room family resource center.

Additional activities will include tie-dying tee-shirts, face painting, body art, sensory activities, and more! Raffle tickets will be sold for items from Pitchfork Records, Imagination Village, New to You Recycled Fashion, United Shoe Repair, Cafe Indigo, Shirt Masters, EMS, Michael's, WellAware, Your Home Your World, and other local businesses!

Free food will be available, including lunch and dinner provided by The Meat House, yogurt and smoothies provided by Stonyfield Yogurt, dessert provided by Cafe Indigo, Vitamin Water, and coffee and tea provided by Chartwells (the NHTI campus food service).
