Nature hike

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the historic Weeks Act, which ultimately created the White Mountain National Forest. Join us on July 15 for a guided hike along the Crawford Path, where the Weeks Act legacy surrounds us. Forest Society Director of Education Dave Anderson and Senior Naturalist Nancy Ritger from the Appalachian Mountain Club will lead participants up the historic Crawford Path – the oldest continuously used hiking path in the United States – past the cascades of Gibbs Brook to the Gibbs Brook Scenic Area to view a rare patch of old-growth forest.

The hike is a moderate climb, but hikers should be prepared for mountain weather. There is no charge, but preregistration is required as space is limited. For more information or to register, visit forestsociety.org/thingstodo or call 224-9945, ext. 313.
