Help! My good friend has a drug problem

Dear Casper and Bill,

I just discovered that a close friend of mine, who I've had a crush on for years, has a serious drug problem.

He smokes pot almost every day, and I think he does it before school. Lately he's been really out of it and I don't know whether to confront him about his drug use.

I imagine he'd be pretty defensive if I brought it up to him, and I don't want to come off as a nag. Should I try to talk to him?

Dear Naive,

Unless you want a life being hurt, crushed, brokenhearted, crying, depressed, tormented, downcast, outcast, miserable, dejected, disgraced, scorned, poverty stricken, sorrowful, melancholy, unhappy, humiliated, rejected and much more, here's what we suggest: Help!

Look on the bright side of this: Grab your “crush” and drag him/her to the nearest rehab center immediately to get started. Then watch the movie Midnight Cowboy with Dustin Hoffman's character Ratso Rizzo. If that doesn't scare the stuffing out of your crush, nothing will, and your life will be all of the above.

You decide: happiness, cheery, contentment, comfort, joy, love (in other words, a real life with ups and downs, but at least it's a real life), or a sorry alternative.

Just envision the two of you reading The Insider together on Tuesdays with your morning coffee and seeing us smiling at you!
