Every week, City Manager Tom Aspell sends out his city memo, updating us all on the comings and goings and what-have-yous around the city. Well, we didn’t run it in the Insider last week, so we combined them into a big ol’ double dose of a city memo.
More food donations
Aspell writes that the Concord Human Services Department received another generous donation of food this week from Concord High School students Dillon Emerson and Matt Curtis.
Aspell also writes that Marty Bender from Temple Beth Jacob brought in food collected from the congregation, as well as chicken and hamburger. Many thanks to Dillon, Matt, Marty and the generous congregation of Temple Beth Jacob from Aspell and the Human Services Department.
Historic cemeteries
Blossom Hill and Concord Calvary cemeteries have been entered in the National Register of Historic Places, Aspell writes. The National Register is the official federal listing of significant heritage resources worthy of preservation, rehabilitation or re-use. According to the memo, the first project to be addressed will be the roof of the Perkins Chapel, located near the entrance to Blossom Hill Cemetery.

Audi schedule
The following shows will take place at the City Auditorium this winter:
– Jan. 22, 7 p.m. The Rhythm of the Night. This 20th annual dance extravaganza highlights the stars of seven capital area dance schools. This is a wonderful show for the whole family. Tickets are $6 and are available at Gibson’s Bookstore or at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Audi’s ongoing restoration projects. For more information, call 225-7474.
– January 30, 2 p.m. GSSO Principals in January. The Granite State Symphony Orchestra features its outstanding First Chair Musicians in a chamber music matinee. – Feb. 11 & 12. 8 p.m. Feb 13, 2 p.m. Almost, Maine. The Community Players of Concord present the perfect treat for Valentine’s Day weekend. This sweet new comedy cleverly explores the mysteries of the human heart. Tickets are $14 to $17, with a $2.00 discount if purchased before Feb. 9. – Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. Burma & Cambodia, Lands of Conflict. The Walker Lecture Series invites you to join noted filmmaker Buddy Hatton on his revealing journey to two nations that have fascinated the world, from ancient times to today’s news reports.
