Got toiletries? First Church could use ‘em

First Congregational Church’s food pantry at 177 N. Main St. provides food on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. In a typical month, it serves 323 households or 1,089 inpiduals, including 68 elderly people and 367 children.

In addition to food and money provided by First Church members, the donations come from other local churches, the Concord Regional Food Program, USDA, FEMA, Crop Walk, Souper Bowl, local businesses and gardeners. Each month about $1,000 is donated, which is then used to purchase food. Twenty-eight volunteers spend about 140 hours each month distributing the food.

The food pantry is currently seeking volunteers and donations. The pantry is especially in need of toiletry items – even soaps and shampoos from hotels are helpful.

For more information, call Bobbi Boley at 225-5491 or 226-0825.
