It’s fall in the Granite State!

The days are getting shorter, the nights brisker and a hint of electricity invigorates the breeze. Can you feel it? Fall is in the air.

Welcome to the Concord Insider’s Guide to Fall in New Hampshire. We’ve created it to let you know about the scores of cool events taking place across the Granite State over the next few months. From haunted hay rides in Hopkinton to beer festivals in the North Country, we’ve tried to pack something in for everyone. We’ve included an extensive calendar listing of events, a look inside a few of the state’s many breweries, and tour the quaint city of Keene, a perfect place to explore in the fall.

This publication is meant as a reference of sorts; we hope you’ll keep it around to consult on a nippy day when your scratching your head for something to do.

For readers not acquainted with the Insider, we’re a free alt-weekly published by the Monitor that covers community news, arts and entertainment and pretty much anything offbeat and interesting that goes on in the capital city. In addition to the fall material, we’ve included a few of the Insider’s regular features to help you get a feel for what we do.

We’re lucky here to have all four seasons (or five, if you count black fly season), and fall is an obvious favorite for many. In “Eagle Pond,” New Hampshire poet Donald Hall describes autumn this way:

“A leaf falls, the year falls and men and women fall. And, felix culpa, fall is the most beautiful season – at least in New Hampshire.”

We agree. So get out there and enjoy it while it lasts.
