Chippendale tall clock

Talk about awesome. This mahogany Chippendale tall clock was made right here in the city sometime around 1800 at famed clockmaker Asa Kimball’s shop.

The clock, which is signed by its maker, Tim O’Chandler, was exhibited at the New Hampshire Historical Society’s furniture exhibition in 1978 and is featured in the society’s catalog of the exhibition, Plain & Elegant, Rich & Common.

We’re not sure how much it’s worth, but similar pieces with the Kimball mark have gone for upwards of $30,000.

It now belongs to Gary Yeaton, owner of Gary F. Yeaton Antiques, and he’s trying to unload it during the 53rd Annual New Hampshire Antiques Dealer Show, which is happening now (you can find more details on page 14). Gary tells us the clock is in great condition and still keeps time.
