City briefly

The North State saga

We know you’re busy with the budget, City Manager Tom Aspell, so we won’t complain about how skimpy the memo was this week.

We will, however, complain about this: North State Street improvements will carry on this week.

“The contractor will continue road box excavation on North State street between Lake and Knight Streets,” Tom wrote.

Quit with the fancy talk, Tom. We know that “road box excavation” is just another way of saying that traffic will be a hot mess.

“Traffic will continue to be restricted to one lane during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Major delays are to be anticipated and the public is encouraged to seek alternate routes whenever possible.”

Didn’t it feel good to come clean, Tom? We can handle the truth. Now excuse us. We have an appointment with our therapist to discuss our road rage.

Fire department fun

Wondering what the Concord Fire Department has been up to? (Other than saving lives and putting out fires.) Wonder no more!

Three members of the department command staff recently completed a three-day course on advance incident command principles and practices, Tom wrote.

The course covered the management of major emergencies and was offered free of charge by the New Hampshire Fire Academy, Tom added with excitement. He always appreciates a good deal.
