Take a taste . . . help the nation

On Wednesday, New Hampshire chefs and restaurants will gather for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation. Taste of the Nation Manchester has raised critical funds needed to support efforts to end childhood hunger in New Hampshire and across America for the past 20 years. This year's event will take place on May 6 at The Radisson Hotel – Center of New Hampshire, 700 Elm St., Manchester, from 6:30 to 10 p.m., with a VIP reception beginning at 5:30 p.m.

More than 50 of New Hampshire's restaurants and mixologists will participate in this event. Guests will enjoy the region's finest foods paired with wines from around the country provided by Martignetti Cos. of New Hampshire.

The area charities that will benefit from this year's event include The New Hampshire Food Bank, The Children's Alliance of New Hampshire and Nesenkeag Farm. Since its inception 20 years ago, Taste of the Nation has raised more than $70 million for organizations in the United States, Canada and abroad, including more than $600,000 in the Manchester area.

Generous support from presenting sponsor American Express, national sponsors SYSCO Corp. and Food Network and local sponsor Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire ensures that 100 percent of ticket proceeds go to Share Our Strength's efforts to end childhood hunger in America.

With more than 12 million children facing hunger in America, and with nearly on 1 in 10 New Hampshire households lacking access to enough food for an active, healthy life, Taste of the Nation events promote awareness of Share Our Strength's efforts across the nation. The funds raised through Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation support the most effective organizations that feed hungry children, as well as advocates that are pursuing long-term solutions to the challenge of hunger, both locally and nationally.

Tickets for Taste of the Nation Manchester are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP and can be purchased by calling (877) 26-Taste or visiting tasteofthenation.org.
