Concord is a mecca of craft fairs this time of year, giving you plenty of opportunities to shop ahead of time (and, as a bonus, avoid the headache of mall parking lots).
Oct. 24 and 25

The Merrimack County Artisans Craft Fair will be held at the Bektash Shrine, 198 Pembroke Road from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. A tradition for over 30 years, the Merrimack County Artisans Craft Fair offers diverse, select crafts made by local artisans. New Hampshire Open Doors will take place on Veterans Day weekend. Artisans and craftspeople across the state invite visitors to their studios and businesses. The New Hampshire Audubon will hold its holiday fair and book sale at the McLane Center, 84 Silk Farm Road, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event includes live animal presentations, discounts at the Nature Store, crafts and activities for kids, baked goods and apple cider, raffle prizes and shoppers can peruse a wide variety of used books (half-price sale on used books begins at 1:30 p.m.).
