Opera singers to compete at the Audi

Just Love to Sing! Productions will present its annual opera competition on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium, 2 Prince St.

This competition will feature young opera singers from all over the country who will compete for more than $5,000 in cash prizes and performance contracts for the Just Love to Sing! 2011 summer festival season.

At the finals there will be prizes of $1,500 from WKXL 1450 Radio; $500 from All Saints Anglican Church; $250 from Opera New Hampshire and there is a $100 audience favorite award.

The public is invited to stop in and experience the singers on Nov. 6 at the Audi for the preliminary round from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wanted: Cash for subscriptions

The Concord Public Library is seeking cash donations for magazine subscriptions in order to continue its collection on a broad range of subjects. A list of titles needed and their subscription prices is available on the library’s website or by calling the library. This is an opportunity for inpiduals, families and businesses to invest in the whole community by helping the library to provide these resources.

A spook-tacular night

South Congregational Church, 27 Pleasant St., will be holding Pipe Screams Spooktacular on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The evening will include skits, fun and frolic for people of all ages. Plus, there will be organ music, a costume party, refreshments and a bell choir. Manchester composer Michael Joseph has written a score for the event called the “March of the Ghouls.”

There will be a free-will offering to benefit the South Church Outreach Ministries. For more information, contact 224-2521.

SOUTH CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

Shop in only one stop

The third annual One Stop Shop will be held on Nov. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m at Beaver Meadow School, 40 Sewells Falls Road, in the gymnasium. The $2 admission includes a bag and one raffle ticket. Children will be admitted for free. All proceeds will go to the Beaver Meadow School PTO.
