A night of mystery occurred at Havenwood Heritage Heights on Aug. 5. Residents came to “Rosie’s Juice Joint” (aka Barrows Dining Room) for a roaring ‘20s good time. They came not as themselves but as characters like Notorious Nick, Southside Sal, Mugsy Malone and, of course, Rosie Marie, the Juice Joint owner, still grieving from her husband’s recent murder but willing to put that all aside for a night of fun (scheming and bribing too).

The mayor wanted to get votes for governor, the gangsters needed to bribe the cops and get in good graces with the bootleggers, PI Pinkerton needed to pay attention to all the outlawing going on and the actress, Dina Diva, wanted to be selected for Hal Hollywood’s next production.

With 27 residents “playing the game” and another 26 to observe the fun and enjoy the delicious food (1920s style, naturally), everyone had a blast. Great food, great costumes and great company.
