Join the New Hampshire Historical Society’s Director of Collections and Exhibitions Wesley Balla on Saturday at 2 p.m. as he discusses how political cartoons came into wide use in the United States through the proliferation of inexpensive engraving and printing processes during the 19th century.
This talk focuses on an important slice of New Hampshire history — cartoons circulated during the 1852 campaign, when Franklin Pierce, ran for president. Admission to the talk is free for New Hampshire Historical Society members and included in the price of paid admission for nonmembers.

Caregivers class offered by VNA
Concord Regional VNA is offering “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a six-week program that empowers family caregivers of adults to take better care of themselves. The program takes place on Thursdays beginning Sept. 29, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at Heights Community Center, 14 Canterbury Road.

Author talk at Gibson’s Thursday
Concord Regional VNA is offering “Beyond the Book: Meet the Local Author,” on Thursday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Gibson’s Bookstore, 45 S. Main St.
Local author Marjorie Burke discusses her and husband Donald’s new book, Melting Ice – Shifting Sand that creates a deeply honest and moving account of their struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
This one-hour presentation includes a question and answer session. There is no fee to attend this program.

Join Gibson’s Bookstore for our new Guest Star Book Club Series.
Each month we will present a new book, and the discussion will be lead by a guest expert. For November, we will be reading and discussing The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett. The discussion will be lead by authors Kevin Flynn and Rebecca Lavoie.
Meetings take place at Gibson’s Bookstore. Each of these titles are discounted 25 percent up until their individual discussion dates.

Seated yoga class at HealthSouth
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital will join rehabilitation providers across the nation, Sept. 18-24, in celebration of National Rehabilitation Week with the theme “The Power of Rehabilitation.” Community members are invited to learn more about the power of yoga, and how it can be helpful for over 70 chronic physical and mental health conditions, by visiting the hospital located at 254 Pleasant St. for a seated therapeutic yoga seminar on Thursday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
This seminar will share seated yoga techniques to help the mind and body, and is free.

Yankee Chapter PRSA trivia night

Since September is PRSA’s Ethics Awareness Month, the Yankee Chapter will celebrate with a night of free interactive trivia fun.
