It’s no secret that we like food around here. Okay, we love food around here.

And despite our enjoyable vegan meal not that long ago, we sure do enjoy meat with our meals – especially if its between two buns with bacon, cheese, veggies and whatever else you can think of.

Yes, we’re talking about burgers and if you’re affinity for those kinds of tasty creations matches ours, then you’re going to love this. The Barley House is holding its annual BurgerFest through Saturday and you don’t want to miss it. There are 12 unique creations adorning the BurgerFest menu this year and if you play your cards right, you might have enough time to try them all.

And a portion of each burger purchased between now and Saturday will benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD).

Now you’re probably wondering what kind of combinations there are. Well, let’s just say many that had us seriously contemplating spending every day at The Barley House this week.

Of the 12, only five include ground beer and one is a double decker called Fatt Boy that of course, has cheese and bacon on it. There’s one that’s peppercorn charred with blue cheese, and another one is in honor of Greg Grappone with provolone and swiss.

For those looking for a different kid of meat, there are ones with salmon, ground turkey, lamb, bison and elk. And for those who don’t want any meat, but still crave the enjoyment of a burger in your hands, there’s one with a barley-lentil patty and another made with a portabella mushroom as the star of the dish.

And of course, each one has their own flavor profile with different cheeses, sauces and vegetable pairings, but we’ve got to leave something for you to read when checking out the menu.

There’s also beer choices that when bought with one of the special burgers adds to the total given to CHaD. Each burger is sponsored by a different local business.
