Keep up those rinks

Want to help future Stojkos and Yamaguchis practice their triple Salchows and figure eights this winter? You could donate some money for rink maintenance. The city is looking to raise $4,500 this winter to offset budget cuts, Aspell writes. So far, donations total $2,400, so there's still a ways to go. Aspell reports that the recent warmer temperatures left the pond at White Park unskatable. While we don't remember breaking out the Bermuda shorts anytime recently, we're gonna take his word for it and wait for the okay to skate. Don't kick those dried-out old Christmas trees to the curb. Get rid of them at one of the city's approved disposal locations. Through Jan. 30, you can bring them to the transfer station at 77 Old Turnpike Road., Beaver Meadow Golf Course, or the White Farm on Clinton Street. Just don't forget to remove the lights first.
