Beautify Allenstown, part of the Allenstown Community Projects initiative, will hold its 3rd Annual Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

This year’s event has been rebranded as “Pick Up & Sip Up,” reflecting a new partnership with The Vintage Cup Coffee Co., which is sponsoring a coupon for volunteers who complete the cleanup.

Participants will meet at the Allenstown Town Hall Bandstand at 9 a.m.before being assigned to cleanup areas that include Granite Street, River Road, Chester Turnpike to Allenstown Bridge Park, Canal Street, and Ferry Street to the Boat Launch.

Beautify Allenstown will provide large trash bags, reacher grabber tools and high-visibility safety vests. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, water, a hat, sunscreen, and bug/tick repellent, and to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and rain gear if needed.

Founded by Matt Conway and Karen Emmons, Beautify Allenstown is centered on the belief that community pride grows when residents work together to care for the places they share. Through Allenstown Community Projects, the group has focused on simple, visible acts of service that help strengthen neighborhood connection, encourage civic participation, and make Allenstown a cleaner and more welcoming place for everyone.

“This event is important because it gives people a chance to make a real, visible difference in their own community,” said Matt Conway, co-founder of Allenstown Community Projects. “When neighbors come together around a shared purpose, it builds pride, momentum, and a stronger sense of belonging.”

Co-founder Karen Emmons added, “Community cleanup is about more than litter removal. It’s about showing that Allenstown is a place people care about. We’re grateful for every volunteer and excited to have The Vintage Cup Coffee Co. involved this year to help build even more support.”

Safety remains a priority for the event. Team captains will be assigned, and suspicious items will be marked for pickup by the highway department. Volunteers are also encouraged to check themselves for ticks after the cleanup.
