Info night for LNC program at NHTI

In 2011, NHTI became the first school in New Hampshire to offer an onsite certificate program in the new and growing field of Legal Nurse Consulting. LNCs are professional nurses with both clinical expertise and training in the law. They provide an invaluable service to both the medical and legal professions by evaluating, analyzing and offering informed opinions on the delivery of healthcare and resulting outcomes.

NHTI offers an ABA-approved certificate program for experienced RNs who are interested in becoming Legal Nurse Consultants. Classes are held evenings and weekends, and the program can be completed in one calendar year. The next certificate program begins on Aug. 29.

The LNC program also offers continuing education opportunities for nurses. RNs and LPNs can earn 15 to 30 contact hours in a single weekend class. All classes also earn academic credit, and count toward the LNC certificate if the student should decide to pursue that credential.

On Wednesday, NHTI will offer an information night for those who would like to learn more about the LNC program, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Farnum Hall Room 107. To register, please contact department head Stacey Peters at 271-6484 ext. 4274 or speters@ccsnh.edu.

Buy your spring bulbs this fall

This year, Merrimack County Conservation District is offering an assortment of daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, iris, alliums and specialty bulbs during its annual fall bulb sale. All bulbs have a low hardiness zone to ensure that they will survive our frigid New England winters. A number of offerings are excellent plants to promote pollinators in the area.

Whether you’re starting a garden for the first time or looking to add a new variety to your mature landscape, consider supporting your local conservation district for your bulb planting needs. You can download an order form, color guide and bulb description guide at merrimackccd.org or call 223-6020 to have one mailed to you.

Orders will be taken through Sept. 9. Orders can be picked up on Oct. 13 and 14 at the MCCD office (10 Ferry St., Suite 211) from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Oct. 15 at the Contoocook Farmers’ Market.
