Tuesday

โˆŽโ€‰If youโ€™re into D & D, then your Tuesday night plans just got better as a trip to the Concord Public Library is in your future. If you donโ€™t know what D & D is, then you might want to sit this one out cause there will probably be some veteran Dungeons and Dragons players at tonightโ€™s game night, which runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

โˆŽโ€‰It might be pushing the envelope a bit, but ConcordTV is hosting a trio of classes tonight. Discover ConcordTV will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Heights Community Center, 14 Canterbury Road. The class is free, but pre-registration is required.

Intro to Camera, with Discover ConcordTV as a prerequisite, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $40.

And at 5:30 p.m., Intro to Editing is being held for a cost of $50. Call 226-8872 or email josh@yourconcordtv.org to see if thereโ€™s still room.

Wednesday

โˆŽโ€‰It finally feels like winter, which means youโ€™ll have a lot more time to spend inside. So why not curl up with a good book? Better yet, go talk about books with a bunch of other people who also enjoy cracking open a good 300-pager.

Books and Brew, hosted by the library, will have its January get together at True Brew Barista, starting with a book discussion from 6 to 7 p.m. And you donโ€™t have to read a certain title for this club โ€“ just share what youโ€™ve been reading. Thereโ€™s a mingle hour from 7 to 8 p.m. and you can even get a beer.

โˆŽโ€‰The Concord Chorale is always looking for new voices to add to the group, so theyโ€™ll be hosting an open sing at Concord High School beginning at 7:15 p.m. Meet the director and membership, sing through some of the Mozart โ€œRequiemโ€ movements and schedule an audition.

This could be the big break you were looking for

โˆŽโ€‰We applaud your decision to be more active this year, which we can only imagine is attributed to a New Yearโ€™s resolution. And if youโ€™re over 50, thereโ€™s some line dancing taking place at the Heights Community Center at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $5 for walk-ins or $25 for six weeks โ€“ thatโ€™s like a week for free.

Thursday

โˆŽโ€‰According to Concord Community Music Schoolโ€™s Publicity Manager Liz Faiella, โ€œThe groovy sounds of jazz, funk and boogaloo are the theme for the next two installments in the Bachโ€™s Lunch Series of lectures and concerts.โ€ Sounds like a place you need to be.

The first installment will be a lecture by music school jazz department faculty member Matt Langley titled โ€œFunk โ€™nโ€™ Boogaloo? Who Knew?โ€ There will be a concert next Thursday.

Bachโ€™s Lunch programs are free and open to the public. They run from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on the first and second Thursdays of each month in the music schoolโ€™s Recital Hall. You can even bring your lunch.

Sunday

โˆŽโ€‰If you enjoyed the line dancing earlier in the week, then head on over to the West Street Ward House for a little English Country Dance.

Traditional and contemporary English dances will be taught and accompanied by live music.

You donโ€™t need to have any experience to take part. But you will need $10 โ€“ unless youโ€™re a child and in that case itโ€™s free.

Monday

โˆŽโ€‰Keeping with the get up and moving trend, (it is January after all โ€“ likely the month when the most people exercise) thereโ€™s a yoga for fitness class at the Bow Community Building at 5:45 p.m.

Itโ€™s designed for all fitness levels for stress reduction, stretching, strengthening and balance through mindful breathing.

Maybe youโ€™ll actually stick with the exercise program this year. We already gave up.
