We scoured the streets to find the best light and decoration displays

This house on Mountain Road is pretty eye-catching. The blue icicles pierce through the night sky, and that life-size Santa on the porch looks shockingly realistic from the street. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

This house on Mountain Road just screams class. Nothing too crazy, but it goes to show that white lights and some well-placed wreaths and bows can make a fantastic display. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

Some houses, like this one on Shawmut Street, don’t need darkness to show off. Here we see those classic plastic Santa and Mrs. Claus lawn ornaments, complete with wooden sleigh. For ambiance, there are candy cane poles lining the front of the house and wiry lit winter figurines next to the Clauses. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

This house on Monroe Street really goes all out. There’s colored icicle lights hanging from the roof (and white ones on the roof of the porch), several lit figurines on the roof over the porch, colored strands draped across the porch and tons of other illuminated knickknacks all over. You can see this place from quite a ways away – it’s pretty hard to miss. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

The infamous display on Borough Road in Penacook. We know “Monitor” reporter Allie Morris did a story about this recently, but we couldn’t have a Christmas decorations issue without featuring a shot of it. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

This place on Kyle Road in Penacook stands out because of its colors. All of the windows facing the street project an ethereal blend of purple, pink, blue, green and white. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

The ground display at this Amy Way house is so bright that you can barely see the laser dots all over the house. They’re there, though. (JON BODELL / Insider staff) -

It’s not officially the Christmas season until the neighborhood becomes aglow in lights. Well, it’s now officially that time, as evidenced by all these photos taken in Concord and Penacook.
