Green Street Community Center got a facelift

Concord General Services would like to thank everyone who attended the Green Street Community Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, July 13. General Services Director Chip Chesley was the Master of Ceremonies and summarized all of the completed work during the recent renovations facilitated and accomplished by Concord General Services’ Public Properties Division. Over $600,000 worth of renovations were completed at the Green Street Community Center.

Upgrades included new floors, ceiling tiles, bathroom partitions, a carpet, a handicap accessible ramp, repaired brick exterior, rain gutters, exterior and interior lighting, an upgraded sprinkler system, fresh paint, refurbished locker room fixtures, and an upgraded security system. The City of Concord’s IT Department will be relocated from City Hall to the Green Street Community Center as part of this rehabilitation; office space is projected to be completed by Dec. 1.

Mayor Jim Bouley commented on the importance of the community center, noting a number of the city’s families having enjoyed participating in programs housed at the building over the years. Attendees applauded his closing remarks, “And now, we have pickleball!” Mayor Bouley then invited the City Council, participating contractors and engineers, and city employees involved in the project to join him for the official ribbon cutting to unveil the renovations. An open tour followed the ceremony, allowing attendees to see the changes made firsthand.

Investing in the refurbishment of public properties, such as this community center, gives back to the entire Concord community by continuing the community’s development and growth. Concord General Services thanks the City Council for providing the funds necessary to successfully achieve these improvements and all City of Concord departments for their continued support. General Services also thanks all of the contracted workers on this project for their hard work. Four Public Properties employees, in particular, were publicly thanked at the ceremony for their dedication and commitment to the renovations at the Green Street Community Center: Ed Boissy, Bobby Knapp, Scott Benoit and Ed Bisson.
