This is a mid-paper announcement that Midsummer Night Magic is back

Midsummer Night Magic, a summer solstice extravaganza, will parade into Downtown Concord for its 3rd year on June 20. Midsummer Night Magic is a summoning of community spirit, an evening festival of the unexpected, and a treasure trove of family-friendly fun. The magic will take over the courtyards and side streets of downtown Concord with live performances, multicultural musings, artistic acts, an outdoor movie and a people’s parade.

The centerpiece of the event will be the returning Creative Concord Caravan, presented by Lincoln Financial and Creative Concord (a committee of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce). The Creative Concord Caravan is not your typical parade! It is a participatory parade featuring a Kazoophony orchestrated by the Concord Community Music School, the No Monkey Business “Who Let The Dogs Out” Costumed Dog Posse, Roller Derby Girls and other surprises. Community members are invited to dress up in creative costumes and participate in the Caravan that will leave the State House around 6 p.m. and end in Bicentennial Square.

Come early and enjoy an engaging drum performance by the Burundi Association of N.H., the visually stunning Artsfest Aerialists, and Tribal Zoe’s Ethereal Gypsy Belly Dancers. Other highlights include: entertainment by 105.5 JYY, a photo booth provided by Cowabunga’s of Hooksett and Janelle Sprague Photography, mask making with Kimball Jenkins School of Art, face painting, local artists, buskers and the new community art project: Mosaic 250 presented by Lincoln Financial, Kast Hill Studios and JFogg Social Inspirations. Attendees can also view the newly extracted 1965 Time Capsule in the lobby of Merrimack County Savings Bank, which will stay open until 6 p.m.

After the parade, in Bicentennial Square, True Brew Barista, Centrix Bank and Smuttynose Brewery will be hosting a CD Release Party for the popular Dusty Gray Band. In Eagle Square, the Community Players of Concord and The Walker Lecture Fund will present a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by Red River Theatres’ outdoor movie showing of The Neverending Story at dusk.

The goals of this event are to highlight our great arts organizations, support our downtown merchants and bring the community together. There is no cost for admission to the event but we encourage patronage to the downtown restaurants and merchants, many of whom will be staying open late and offering discounts and specials.
