“Rhythm of the Night” at the Audi on Saturday

The Capital City is going “green,” saving its energy every day and in every building but one: the Concord City Auditorium.

On Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. the city’s theatre will be glowing with the red-hot energy of 100 prima dancers from six area dance schools as The Friends of the Audi present their 23rd annual dance extravaganza, “The Rhythm of the Night.”

The 2014 performance director, Lisa Drouin Goff of the Turning Pointe Center of Dance in Pembroke, leads a program famed for 22 years as New Hampshire’s largest community dance show. Drouin says No. 23 will be the brightest yet, with 22 acts including tap, hip hop, ballet, jazz, lyric and special production numbers.

Her school will be joined on stage by dancers from the Capital City Dance Center directed by Pam “PJ” White, Concord Dance Academy, directed by Cindy Flanagan, Dancesteps Etc. of Epsom, Gen’s Dance Studio, and New Hampshire School of Ballet of Hooksett.

Tickets are just $6 and available at The UPS Store on South Main Street and at the door.

The show will last 90 minutes with an intermission and is suitable for all ages.

Since 1944 Concord City Auditorium has hosted community dance shows, and this season 13 area schools will present over 2,000 local dancers on its stage.

In 22 years the “Rhythm of the Night” shows have showcased over 2,500 prima dancers.

Information and ticket reservations are available from the producer, David Murdo, at 344-4747 or nhdm40@comcast.net.
