Arnie’s to hold annual wrap-up sale

If you’re looking for the closest thing to free ice cream on Saturday then head down to Arnie’s Place at 164 Loudon Road.

The 20th annual Almost Free Ice Cream Day will be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the popular local restaurant to benefit the Concord Boys & Girls Club.

“100 percent of the proceeds that we make that day will go to the boys and girls club,” said restaurant manager Mark McManus.

More than $1,000 was raised last year at the event. On Saturday, a regular ice cream will cost $2, while items like a flurry or sundae will be at a discounted price. Donations are also accepted.

McManus said hundreds of people came out last year and a similar total is expected this weekend.
Arnie’s closes for the season on Wednesday, so Saturday’s event is a way to not only raise money for a local organization, but also get rid of the left over ice cream from the season.

“It’s a win-win for us,” said McManus.

Employees also donate their time.

“Everybody who works here fights over the almost free ice cream day,” said McManus. “It’s so much fun.”

Following the event, the Concord Boys & Girls Club will receive a large cardboard check.
Arnie’s will also be providing free ice cream to participants at Sunday’s Making Strides of Concord walk.
