Wine tasting fundraiser

I joined Concord Hospital Trust’s Wine Tasting Committee because I might still be battling cancer today if not for the generous philanthropic support from this annual event.

When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, I was given the option to undergo genetic counseling at the Concord Hospital Breast Care Center, a service that is supported almost entirely through philanthropic contributions. Genetic counseling and the tests that discovered a gene mutation provided me with vital information to make proactive – perhaps life-saving – decisions about my health.

Nearly 200,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and more than 40,000 die from the disease. Ovarian cancer affects only 20,000 women, yet the fatality rate is much higher at nearly 15,000. We need to reduce these numbers.

Please join in this important endeavor! The 2013 Wine Tasting Benefit is being held at The Courtyard Marriott Grappone Conference Center on Feb. 8.

Purchase your tickets today by visiting the website at ch-trust.org.and clicking on the Heart of the Grape logo or calling the Concord Hospital Trust – Office of Philanthropy at 225-2711 ext. 3076. Your ticket contribution will ensure that genetic counseling continues to be available close to home.
